CAMDEN — Vern D. Avery, 89, retired owner of Avery's Bait and Tackle Shop at Camden, died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday in Flora Brethren Home. He had been a resident there 17 months and in ill health three months. Born in Clinton County, he had farmed in the area and he was also employed by Carroll County Highway Department. He operated the bait shop for 15 years before moving to the Home. He was a member of Burlington Christian Church and had been active in Lions Club and Conservation Club. He was married in 1911 to Pearl Johnson. She died in 1967. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clayton Abbott of Lebanon and Mrs. Robert Thayer of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and two brothers, Thomas Avery and Leslie Avery, both of rural Frankfort.--waw
